Contact Dermatitis is a skin allergy that occurs when something touches the skin, even if only briefly. This condition is often characterized by red, sore, or inflamed skin. There are two types of contact dermatitis, irritant and allergic. Irritant is the most common and is caused by contact with acids, and alkaline materials such as soaps, detergents, and other chemicals. Allergic is caused by exposure to a substance or material to which you have become extra sensitive or allergic. Dr. Zachary can perform Patch Testing to evaluate what may be causing the allergy.
